I have so many ideas for blog posts but just never seem able to get round to writing them. I thought I’d try save myself a bit of time by combining some together! Here’s a very brief overview of some food places I’ve been to recently that are worth a visit:

The Deer Park

The Deer Park is a lovely bar and restaurant in Roundhay. I’d never been before but was invited to a friend’s birthday lunch there recently. The staff did a great job at catering for eight adults and their babies. With a spacious car park, no steps to get in, and a table with space to tuck the prams out of the way, The Deer Park is a good restaurant choice for when meeting friends with babies. The interior’s bright and modern and the menu had a good selection. Most importantly, the food was really tasty. I had a roasted pepper and butternut squash tart which was really delicious. It was incredibly filling too – I didn’t even have room for a pudding! I did take a snap of my friend’s brownie though which I had serious food envy over. I’m hoping to go back soon to try one of The Deer Park’s Sunday dinners.

The Tiled Hall

If you’re meeting a friend for some lunch in the centre of Leeds, then the Tiled Hall Cafe within Leeds Art Gallery is a good choice. It does a basic lunch menu well, with some nice paninis and soups. There’s normally a good cake selection too. It’s just a short walk from the train station and there is a bus stop just outside the building. There’s also parking close by at The Light (at an extortionate price!). There’s a ramp leading up to the Art Gallery/cafe so there’s good wheelchair and pram access, and plenty of space between the tables. Although it’s a very large room, due to the set-up I’d suggest this is better for a smaller gathering of friends. Simple food in a beautiful room.

Convive Restaurant

Convive is actually a Mediterranean restaurant, but I went there for Afternoon Tea as one of my friend’s had kindly bought me a Groupon voucherย for my birthday. The restaurant is part of Weetwood Hall Estate off Otley Road. It is a really stylish venue. Our Afternoon Tea was lovely, but I’d like to go back to actually try some of their Mediterranean dishes. I’d particularly like to go back when it’s sunny and warm as they have an area for alfresco dining. Convive is a good choice if you’re looking for somewhere in North Leeds to celebrate a special occasion with family, for ladies who lunch, or for a date night.
