I’ve started my “Loving Leeds” blog for a few reasons.

Firstly, I do so many amazing things in the area, it’s hard to keep track of them all! I recently found a horde of old theatre programmes and gig tickets going back 15 years and was reminded of all the fantastic (and varied!) concerts/shows/events I’ve been to in West Yorkshire. I want to write blog posts about all the cool things I go to in Leeds to remind myself of what I’ve been up to, and hopefully make others aware of some of the great things going on in the district.

Secondly, I continue to get frustrated as I lose more and more friends to London. Despite being a Yorkshire lass to the core (with a brief three year stint in Liverpool), I do completely understand why people want to move around, but get annoyed when people relocate ‘darn sarf’ because they think there’s not much going on up North.

And thirdly, although I already do lots in Leeds, I tend to stick to the city centre – I rarely go to places such as Chapel Allerton or Otley. There are also too many places that I’ve been meaning to go to for ages (such as The Carriageworks theatre or Crowd of Favours pub) and have never got round to visiting. I hope this blog will encourage me to do more on the outskirts of Leeds and to discover some new favourite places that have been on my list for a while.

I hope you enjoy reading about some of the things Leeds has to offer and that you find a few new gems to visit and experience.
